Upper East Side

Upper East Side

With its leafy tree-lined streets, gorgeous brownstones, and swanky boutiques, the ultra chic Upper East Side is Manhattan’s most elegant neighborhood.  It has long been home to many of the wealthiest and most influential New Yorkers.

Thankfully, not everyone in the neighborhood has a trust fund. Young professionals and new families can find affordable Upper East Side rental apartments east of Lexington Avenue and enjoy the best of New York City. Central Park is the local playground and jogging track.  Many world famous museums are just a few blocks away.  And there are plenty of great restaurants and popular brand stores. Updated studio, one bedroom, and two bedroom rentals are available through NoFeeRentals.com in buildings that have elevators and a doorman.

The Upper East Side lies between 59th and 96th Streets and is bordered by the East River and Fifth Avenue/Central Park.   It is roughly divided into the neighborhoods of Lenox Hill, Yorkville, Sutton Place, and Carnegie Hall, and includes the 10021, 10022, 10065, and 10075 ZIP codes.  The Lexington Ave Subway is on the doorstep, providing easy access to all parts of the city

Once known as Millionaire’s Row, the stretch of Fifth Avenue that runs north from 82nd Street is now called Museum Row.  Every day, thousands flock to the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, the Jewish Museum of New York, the Henry Clay Frick House and other top cultural attractions.

The Upper East Side has been the setting for countless classic movies, including Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Manhattan, The Boys in the Band, and The Devil Wears Prada. Its famous residents run the gamut from political figures (former Mayor of New York Michael Bloomberg) to pop icons (Madonna and Mariah Carey.)  Many of New York society’s A-list live here alongside literary lions like Joan Didion and Michael Franzen. Local cafés and restaurants offer some of the best people-watching in the city!
